Covid Update - Peachgrove Intermediate

Tena koutou katoa

As you will be aware we are now at Alert Level 2 for the rest of this week to help combat Covid 19. This is a positive move to ensure the track and tracing, genome sequencing and testing of those who were at places of interest in Auckland are completed and steps are in place to keep everyone safe.

Following the guidance of the Ministry of Health and the government we will continue with our learning conversations on Monday and again on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Please arrive just before your conversation time and you will be signed in at the classroom by the teacher. Please be aware of social distancing and washing or sanitising of hands. Greet the teacher with a smile rather than a handshake or hongi.

On school days please drop your child off and pick them up outside of the school gates. If you enter the school grounds you must report to the office and sign in. Please do not be offended if you are asked to sign in or wait outside the school gate as it is everyone's safety we are helping to protect.

WIMs sports are postponed under alert level two as events are considered gatherings so must be limited to 100 or less, day to day school operation is not considered a gathering. WIMs cricket is therefore postponed, hopefully we can organise a new date shortly.

Key points for school in alert level two:

  • School is open. All students are able to attend school at alert level 2, unless they are unwell or your family has visited locations of interest relating to the Auckland cases as listed on the Covid website www.covid19.govt.nz. Please advise the school office of any absence ph 855 7596 or text 021 0248 8801.

  • We are working under the controlled environments guidelines, therefore the focus for schools is on good hygiene and the ability to track and trace.

  • All visitors, including parents, must sign in at the front office if you enter the school grounds. Please drop students off outside of the school gate.

  • Students need to come straight to school and go straight home from school. Please do not send them too early as this provides opportunity for poor decisions in level 2.

  • If your child is unwell they must stay at home.

  • If a child is unwell at school they need to be collected as soon as possible as it puts our staff at risk.

  • Make sure we have your current phone, email and street address so we can keep you informed.

  • The canteen will be open, however students will need to line up and if this is a worry then they need to bring their lunch from home.

  • Bring a drink bottle filled with water so you do not have to share drinking fountains.

  • Hand sanitiser and or washing hands will be used on entry and exit of classrooms.

  • A regular cleaning regime is in place.

  • We will educate and encourage good hygiene practices. We have set up our classrooms to support the 1 metre or to stay outside the moist breath zone. Please help us implement this by telling your children not to hug, shake hands, high five or hongi.

I would recommend going to the sports codes websites you are involved in to know how they are responding to the alert level.

As further information comes to the school, we will keep you informed.
